MUUV Alignment script for After Effects

Updated: Apr 22

When working with motion graphics and video editing, being efficient is key. Wasting time on mundane tasks can hinder creativity and output. Those familiar with Adobe After Effects understand the significance of alignment tools in achieving a polished look. Yet, many find the built-in alignment tools in After Effects to be lacking and difficult to work with.

Introducing Align.plus - a tool designed to simplify the alignment process, though it doesn't always meet expectations. In this article, we'll explore the limitations of After Effects' built-in alignment tools and how our custom align script has greatly improved our workflow.

The Limitations of After Effects' Align Tool

  1. Inconsistent Results: When trying to distribute the layers evenly, it doesn't always work as expected.

  2. Limited Options: You are unable to choose which layer you want the other layers to align to.

  3. Cumbersome Workflow: Having to navigate through numerous menus and dialog boxes in order to access the Align Tool can disrupt the workflow, especially when working on projects with tight deadlines.

Introducing Our Custom Align Script

We created a custom align script to address the limitations of After Effects' built-in alignment tools. Our team used their scripting and automation skills to tailor the script to our unique requirements. Check out how it works below:
